Adara Pakkaus Oy, a packaging manufacturer from Finland, faced a challenge. In comparison with shrink film packaging, the manufacturing costs were too high for their Karjala beer case. We offered them a solution that would help them gain a total of 23% savings in paper materials:
- Liner start grammage: 130 g/m², total paper grammage 390 g/m²
- Achieved grammage: 90 g/m², total paper grammage 300 g/m²
Another problem was the handle of the cardboard beer case. How could it be reinforced and made more sturdy? To solve this problem, we performed several test runs with Adara Pakkaus Oy to find the best possible solution for them.
Finally, a working solution was found: the use of a slim reinforcement tape. It provided the same tensile strength as a normal tape, but the thickness of the reinforcement material went from 0.27 mm to 0.21 mm – a total reduction of 22%!
